SAM HORNISH JR 2000 PDM RACING ROOKIE SEASON SIMPSON SHARK HELMET

Sam Hornish Jr's 2000 PDM Racing Simpson Shark helmet. This helmet was worn during Hornish's Indy Car rookie season including at Indianapolis. He would impress while leading a number of laps during the season for the under financed PDM Racing team and had a season high finish of 3rd at the Lsa Vegas Motor Speedway. In the process of this early success he caught the eye of the owners of Panther Racing who signed Sam for the 2001 season. Sam would go on to win 3 IRL championships (2001, 2002 and 2006) and the Indianapolis 500 for Penske Racing in 2006. Very rare to find a helmet from a former Indy winner let alone one worn by that of an Indy champion worn during his rookie year!!
