BILL HOLLAND 1949 INDIANAPOLIS 500 RACE WINNING CROMWELL HELMET

Absolutely beautiful and RARE piece of Indianapolis 500 Mile Race history..."500 LEGENDS" is proud to offer the Cromwell helmet worn by Bill Holland in the 1949 Indianapolis 500 Mile Race. Holland, driving the #7 Blue Crown Spark Plug Special for Lou Moore started the 1949 race in 4th position. After finishing second to his teammate Mauri Rose in 1947 and 1948 Holland drove yet another superb race in '49 and this time took the checkered flag to capture his 1st and only Indy win. Holland followed up his Indy win in 1949 with yet another 2nd place finish in 1950. This helmet was giving to very close friends of Holland, Jack and Vi Gurshick after the 1949 memorial day classic along with a personally signed picture. Jack Gurshick owned and operated Gurshick Cash Registers of Reading Pennsylvania. The helmet was also signed, but time has taken most of the autograph away. I have been able to identify and cross reference a few words on the helmet with those on the signed picture and have confirmed that it is in fact Holland's signature on the helmet. An extremely rare piece that would normally only be seen in a museum can be the most prized possession in your motor racing collection. Also included with this collection is a picture of the Gurschick's, Holland and celebrity Guy Lombardo. The picture is signed "To Vi and Jack, Happy New Year, Guy Lombardo, 1956. I have many more pictures of the helmet and if you would like to see more just email me and I will forward them to you.
